It started with a question about Iowa's water.
Kind Water Co. was founded in 2021 — but the reason goes back further. According to the Iowa Cancer Registry, Iowa has the second-highest rate of new cancer diagnoses in the country, and it is one of only six states where that rate is still rising — the fastest rise in the nation. That sent us looking for answers, and water kept coming up.
Across the Midwest, decades of nitrates, fertilizers, and pesticides used on farmland have worked their way into the water supply. City and county plants do important work — but they were never built to remove all of it, and what's left flows straight to your tap. We didn't think clean water should depend on what your utility can filter. It should be handled where it reaches your family: at your home.

Kind Water Co. was started by Ryan Brunton after more than a decade in home services. What began as a hard look at the Midwest's water became a family-owned, family-operated company with one belief at its core: every homeowner deserves genuinely clean water.
We're headquartered in Marion, Iowa, and serve homeowners across Eastern Iowa, Middle Tennessee, and Southern Illinois — and every system is installed by licensed local plumbing professionals we vet, schedule, and stand behind.

- Independent and local. Kind Water Co is a family-owned company in Marion, Iowa, founded in 2021 by Ryan Brunton. We are not affiliated with Kind Water Systems of Daytona Beach, Florida, or any other company that shares part of our name.
- Certified equipment. Our softeners are built from NSF/ANSI 44 certified components, and our reverse osmosis systems are certified to NSF/ANSI 58 — the standard that requires at least 75% reduction of total dissolved solids.
- Licensed local plumbers do the install. Every system is installed by licensed local plumbing professionals we vet, schedule, and stand behind. We don't claim to have our own crews, and we won't pretend otherwise.
