The bundle

Three Pieces, One Installed Price.

Equipment, the work, the warranty and the taxes. Nothing added on install day.

Whole Home Softener

Takes the hardness out of every tap. Ion-exchange with a ceramic-disc control valve and standard parts, so any licensed plumber can service it.

Whole Home Carbon Filtration

A coconut-shell carbon tank for chlorine taste and smell at every faucet. NSF/ANSI 42 media that lasts up to 12 years.

Reverse Osmosis

Seven-stage RO at the sink with an alkaline mineral filter. Certified to NSF/ANSI 58 by IAPMO R&T.

Whole-home softener, carbon filtration tank and reverse-osmosis system
Most popular

Whole-Home Softener + Reverse Osmosis

$2,850 installed

Softener alone is $1,900. Softener + filtration is $2,500.

  • Soft water at every tap in the home
  • NSF/ANSI 42 certified carbon filtration
  • Reverse-osmosis drinking water at the kitchen sink
  • Lifetime-warrantied, non-proprietary control valve

What installation includes. Installation is handled by licensed local plumbing professionals we vet, schedule and stand behind. A standard install is in the price. The few things that can be extra — a long trench, a pre-sediment filter, a catalytic carbon upgrade for chloraminated water — are priced on our site before you say yes.

Compare the full quote.

Seven questions to ask any water company. Every one is answered for us on this page.

  1. What exact equipment am I buying — how many tanks, and does it include a drinking-water system?
  2. What is the total installed price, with taxes?
  3. What could still cost extra on install day, and what does each of those cost?
  4. What maintenance does this need, how often, and what does each visit cost?
  5. What does the warranty cover — parts, media and labor separately? For how long each?
  6. Who physically installs it, and who do I call in two years when something leaks?
  7. Am I buying this or renting it? If renting, what happens if I cancel, and who owns it at the end?

Brand by brand

What each row of the table is based on. Numbers link to the source.

Culligan

Aquasential softener with Culligan's exclusive control valve; parts and service run through the local franchise dealer. Carbon filtration is a second tank or a Smart HE unit with carbon built in; the Aquasential RO is a separate purchase. Softener alone: cost surveys put it at $1,800–$4,100 installed (Modernize, Aug 2026). Factory warranty is parts only — “you pay only freight… and local dealer charges.” 23456

Kinetico

Non-electric twin-tank softener with a patented valve; using non-Kinetico parts voids the warranty. Chlorine removal is a separate Dechlorinator tank; the K5 RO is a separate purchase. Softener alone: owner purchases relayed in 2025 ran $2,700–$6,000 installed — few recent reports, so treat it as rough. The written warranty “does NOT include freight or labor charges.” 7891011

Leaf Home

A 2-in-1 softener with catalytic carbon in the same tank; no Leaf page names the control valve, and service must be by Leaf. The under-counter RO is sold as its own line item. Softener + carbon: seven owner reports from 2024–2026 ran $3,425–$6,073 installed. Warranty is seven years on valve, electronics, tank and brine drum, resin not covered; labor one year, then “billed at prevailing rates.” 12131415

RainSoft

EC5 computer-controlled softener with RainSoft's own valve and electronics; genuine parts are required or the warranty is void. The whole-house carbon tank and the Ultrefiner II RO are separate purchases. Softener alone: reviewer and owner quotes run $5,000–$8,000 installed (2019–2026). Lifetime warranty on tank, valve and resin for the first owner, but it “does not include labor charges, and does not cover installation.” 1617181920

EcoWater

The 3700-series “refiner” softens and carbon-filters in one tank; replacement parts come only through the EcoWater dealer. The ERO 385 RO is a separate purchase. Refiner + RO — the same three jobs as our bundle — was quoted at $7,000–$9,200 in 2022 owner reports; nothing newer was found. EcoWater's own warranty chart lists labor as “NONE” for every residential series. 2122232425

Big-box store + your plumber

A cabinet softener (GE, Whirlpool, Rheem) is $489–$619 on the shelf; a plumber adds $150–$1,000 by cost surveys. Whirlpool's hybrid softener-plus-chlorine-filter is $779–$800; RO kits are separate SKUs and nothing is sold as a package. The cabinet valve is built by Ecodyne with brand-specific, mail-order parts. Warranty is one year parts and labor, then parts only. Menards was not priced. 26272829

Questions before you choose

Does this bundle work on well water?

On city water, yes, exactly as shown. On a private well we test first and size the iron filtration to the result. Our well system starts at $3,800 installed.

I already have a softener from another company. Can I keep it?

Often, yes. We test your water and tell you honestly whether it can stay. If it's a proprietary unit that's out of warranty, we'll quote a swap to standard equipment and you decide.

How much room does it take?

Two floor tanks about 10 inches across and a little over four feet tall, plus a salt tank, near where the water enters the house. The RO fits under the kitchen sink.

Why do quotes from different companies vary so much?

Most companies price in your living room after a water test, and the number can move if you push back. Ours is published and the same for everyone.

Why $ signs for the other brands instead of exact prices?

None of them publishes a price list. Their bands come from dated cost surveys and quotes homeowners posted, all linked in the sources below. Ours is our published price.

What does “lifetime warranty” actually cover?

Parts, for life. Media is five years. Labor is one year. The other brands' warranties are in the sources, and most of them cover parts only.

How we priced this

Other brands don't publish prices, so their bands come from dated cost surveys and quotes homeowners posted, never from a brand's price list. Ours is our published price. Checked 12 September 2026.
