Our Name Is Our Promise

Kind water for every tap in your Dubuque home.

Dubuque lime-softens its water at the Eagle Point plant, from about 16 grains down to about 6 — so the city has said customers do not need a softener, and we will tell you that too, with one all-in price if you want softer.

The problem

What’s really coming out of your tap?

Most homes deal with all three at once — and you can’t see any of them.

Chlorine & Chemicals

City water is chlorinated to kill bacteria — often more than a swimming pool. It irritates skin, eyes, and lungs, and leaves a taste and smell.

What the standards say →

Hard Water

Dissolved calcium and magnesium leave scale that clogs pipes, shortens the life of water heaters and appliances, and dries out skin and hair.

What the research shows →

Fertilizers & Pesticides

Farm runoff carries nitrate and pesticide residue into the water our cities draw from — and standard treatment isn't built to remove it.

1

Soften

Salt-based ion exchange removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale — protecting your pipes, appliances, skin, and hair.

2

Filter

NSF/ANSI 42 certified coconut-shell carbon strips out chlorine, chemicals, tastes, and odors from every tap in the home.

3

Purify

A 7-stage reverse-osmosis system polishes your drinking water and adds healthy minerals back for clean, great-tasting water.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly.

Is Dubuque water hard?
Somewhat, and far less than before the city treats it. The City of Dubuque says its lime softening takes hardness from about 280 mg/L (about 16 grains per gallon) down to about 100 mg/L — roughly 6 grains per gallon, which the USGS scale calls moderately hard. Homes on private wells outside town do not get that softening step.
Does the City of Dubuque already soften the water?
Yes. EPA records list lime softening for Dubuque's water system, and a City of Dubuque water-service FAQ says customers do not need to soften their water. If your water feels fine to you, that’s a real answer, not a sales setup. Some families still choose a softener for fewer spots on glasses or a gentler feel in the shower, and that is a comfort choice, not a fix.
What does a water softener cost in Dubuque?
If you want water softer than the city's roughly 6 grains, a whole-home softener is $2,500 all-in, or $2,850 with reverse osmosis drinking water. If better drinking water is the main goal, tankless RO is $900 and tank RO is $800. Whole-home carbon is $1,150, or $1,450 catalytic. On a private well outside town, a complete well system is from $3,800. Every price includes equipment, taxes, a lifetime parts warranty and installation by licensed local plumbing professionals we vet, schedule and stand behind.
Does Dubuque’s water come from the Mississippi River?
No, it comes from wells. The City of Dubuque says the Eagle Point plant is fed by five shallow wells, about 200 feet deep in sand-and-gravel alluvial aquifers, and four deep wells that reach 1,000 to 1,800 feet. The plant aerates, lime-softens and filters the water, adds chlorine to disinfect and fluoride at 0.7 mg/L, and serves an average demand of about seven million gallons a day.
Do you serve my town near Dubuque?
