Our Name Is Our Promise

Kind water for every tap in your Davenport home.

Davenport drinks Mississippi River water that is not softened at the plant, and Iowa American Water lists it at 7.9 to 20.4 grains of hardness — so spotty glasses are normal here, and we test your tap free before we talk price.

The problem

What’s really coming out of your tap?

Most homes deal with all three at once — and you can’t see any of them.

Chlorine & Chemicals

City water is chlorinated to kill bacteria — often more than a swimming pool. It irritates skin, eyes, and lungs, and leaves a taste and smell.

What the standards say →

Hard Water

Dissolved calcium and magnesium leave scale that clogs pipes, shortens the life of water heaters and appliances, and dries out skin and hair.

What the research shows →

Fertilizers & Pesticides

Farm runoff carries nitrate and pesticide residue into the water our cities draw from — and standard treatment isn't built to remove it.

See the EPA limits →

1

Soften

Salt-based ion exchange removes the calcium and magnesium that cause scale — protecting your pipes, appliances, skin, and hair.

2

Filter

NSF/ANSI 42 certified coconut-shell carbon strips out chlorine, chemicals, tastes, and odors from every tap in the home.

3

Purify

A 7-stage reverse-osmosis system polishes your drinking water and adds healthy minerals back for clean, great-tasting water.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly.

Is Davenport water hard?
Yes. Iowa American Water's Quad Cities typical water quality sheet lists total hardness at 136 to 350 mg/L, which is 7.9 to 20.4 grains per gallon — a wide range, and since the plant does not soften, that is what heads to your tap. Your home could be anywhere in that range, so we test at your kitchen sink for free before we suggest anything.
Does Davenport already soften its water?
No. The EPA record for the East River Station plant lists 26 treatment entries, including settling, carbon filtration, UV light, fluoride and chloramine disinfection, and not one of them is softening. The calcium and magnesium in the river ride all the way to your faucet, and that’s why softening in Davenport is a choice each family makes, not something the water plant already did for you.
How much does a water softener cost in Davenport?
In Davenport a whole-home softener is $2,500, and a softener plus reverse osmosis is $2,850. Bigger households can pick the XL softener at $2,800, or $3,150 with RO. If better drinking water is your main wish, a tank RO is $800 and a tankless RO is $900. On a private well outside town, a complete well system is from $3,800. Every price is all-in: equipment, installation by licensed local plumbing professionals we vet, schedule and stand behind, taxes and a lifetime parts warranty. Our softeners are built from NSF/ANSI 44 certified components, and our RO systems are certified to NSF/ANSI 58.
Where does Davenport's water come from, and what is chloramine?
It comes from the Mississippi River. Iowa American Water cleans it at East River Station with coagulation and settling, a Superpulsator clarifier, granular activated carbon filters and an ultraviolet light system added in 2022. For disinfection it uses chloramines instead of plain chlorine. The utility says chloramines work like chlorine for everyday household use, but they must be removed from water used for kidney dialysis and for fish tanks, and the methods are different from the ones used for chlorine. If someone at home is on dialysis, the utility says to ask your doctor or dialysis specialist, and for a fish tank, your pet store or vet.
